We started Opera Tours Italy because we knew there were many, many people like us who shared our passion for opera and all things Italian.
We wanted as many of them as possible to experience the sheer joy of their favourite music in the most evocative of all settings, as part of an exclusive opera holiday in Italy itself.
We're a small, friendly team with a genuine commitment to personal service. That's why we ensure you get the best tickets at Italy's top opera venues. Why we keep group sizes down to fewer than 20. And why we choose to stay only in those charming, independent hotels that share our outlook.
More than anything else, we want you to enjoy the time you spend in the company of our experts and your like-minded travelling companions and to treasure for all time the memories you take home with you.
1 Open to everyone
We are open to everyone and do not employ an upper age limit. We also welcome solo travellers with no single supplement.
2 The Masterclass
Andrew’s fascinating talks before each opera will offer something even to the seasoned opera goer.
3 Our experience
Having taken guests to Italy to enjoy the opera and culture for over 10 years, we know the best restaurants, excursions and even coffee there is to be had in these wonderful cities.
4 Completely flexible
We can arrange and accompany you to everything from transfers, tickets, restaurants and excursions, or leave to explore the beautiful cities by yourself. Completely up to you.
5 The atmosphere
We liken our tours to the perfect house party. Great company, lovely surroundings and of course a few Aperols!
6 Always on call
Debbie or another member of the team are always available, 24/7.
Because our guests tell us they prefer the flexibility of arranging their own travel, we do not make arrangements for travel from the UK to Italy. We have extensive knowledge of flight and rail options and are happy to advise you.
Many of our guests use the flexibility of independent travel to organise their own sightseeing trips before and after their Italian opera tour.
Alternatively we can organise an extended itinerary and help with all arrangements, and anywhere in Italy.
We are a small service led company that values customer service. For that reason we would much rather speak to you so we can be sure of meeting your exact requirements. However, if you wish to deal with us by email or post, please indicate on our online booking form. Our online booking form can also be used as an initial enquiry.
No. Our escorted opera tours are intended for the seasoned opera-goer and novice alike. Andrew's talks are informative and accessible to everyone and he is available throughout the tour for those who want to learn more.
In the event of adverse weather conditions affecting the open air opera events on your tour, the full ticket price will be refunded as long as the performance is cancelled before the start. If the performance is abandoned once it is under way, the conditions of purchase unfortunately do not allow us to offer a refund.
All the hotels and venues are suitable for disabled visitors, although we do not use specially adapted coaches for travel between destinations. Some of our tours are in mediaeval cities with cobbled streets and narrow pavements, so if you feel you or anyone travelling with you may need assistance, please contact us for advice before you make your booking.
We have a minimum age of 18 years, but no upper age restriction.
Our tours are perfect for those who choose to travel alone. We don't charge a single supplement on our tours to Lucca, and we have a limited number of places free of supplement on our Verona tour. Our friendly team will be with you for as much or as little of the tour as you would like. Guests are also included in the decision of where to eat every day.
We are fully bonded by a very established specialist insurance company, and this covers all monies paid to us in the unlikely event of financial failure.
